Farther westward are the distant and windswept Cape Bridgewater and striking Princess Margaret Rose Caves. The most effective means to travel to the caves is to consider a cruise up the Glenelg River by the impressive limestone gorge, fifteen kms in length and upwardly to fifty metres in height.
Acknowledged every bit one of the Australia's most beautiful drives, the Great Ocean Road sticks to the beautiful coastline of Victoria's southwest. Elongating 243 kms from Torquay, barely due south of Geelong, to Allansford, simply east of Warrnambool, the route curves by cliff pinnacles, up to breathless promontories, descending onto the boundary of beaches, intersecting river estuaries and by rich rainforests providing bird's eye view of Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean at every twist.
Impressive aspects
The stint between Lorne and Apollo Bay is believed by some to represent the most beautiful segment of the Great Ocean Road. The main road is sculptured into steep cliffs that fall away into the sea, providing compelling views of the waves rolling and breaking onto the rocks and beaches beneath.
12 Apostles
Outside Apollo Bay the road curves by the heart of the Great Otway National Park with its glorious virgin rainforests, prior to going back to embrace the coast for the whole distance of the Port Campbell National Park. This represents the most notable part of Tours Great Ocean Road boasting an astounding accumulation of geological formation titled the 12 Apostles which have been etched out of the headland from the violent waves of the southern ocean.
